Went to a worship night put on by Bethel Music in Pella tonight with my sisters. What a wonderful night with a few thousand of my brothers and sisters!
I was watching a video about squids with one of my daycare kids because squids came up in our conversation, and she wasn’t sure what they looked like. Anyway, I stumbled upon a short video by National Geographic. It was nothing special, but there was one thing the narrator said that struck me.
He said that, on average, squids live only one year, but they do a lot in that time, and I thought, Continue reading “With Just One Year”
We have been really busy most evenings for a few weeks, and it has been making it difficult to write, but I’m back at it.
My husband’s birthday was last week.
We didn’t do much the day of, but we took a little weekend trip to Des Moines a few days later. We visited the zoo, saw the new Star Trek, and, most importantly, hit up the Cheesecake Factory!
We stayed with some friends and got to catch up with them and play with their kids. It was a really good weekend.
My husband is truly one of a kind.
There are things he does that might cause a fight if they happened in someone else’s marriage, but we laugh because we both know that, even though he’s 75% serious, he is 25% just being silly, so it makes it okay.
Last week, for example…I am laughing while I write this just thinking about what he did. Continue reading “Husband Saves the Day”
I’ve said it before, but I am just so thankful for my husband.
I used to be a runner. I ran track and cross country all through junior high and high school. I loved being a distance runner, but I was really injury prone. I had shin splints every season, all season of each sport, from 7th grade until my senior year with the exception of cross country my junior year. I don’t know what happened; that year was a miracle.
Anyway, here I am 25 years old, and I haven’t run in a few years. The reason is because every time I try to run I get shin splints, and I hate it! Needless to say, I’m a bit out of shape, and my endurance sucks. But I have decided, nonetheless, to pick up running because it is such a good workout. Continue reading “Running Again”
Honestly, I’m having a hard time finding the words to use to describe what is happening and has happened in the United States, but I can’t just say nothing. Continue reading “I Can’t Just Say Nothing”
Today my husband and I celebrated our 4th anniversary!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 4 years. So much has happened!
We both agree that year 4 was a year of immense growth in our marriage, and it’s exciting to know that we aren’t done growing together.
Since we are trying to pay off student loans we didn’t buy each other gifts. We went out to eat with a gift card we received and hit up a $5 movie 🙂
And we matched the whole time! I love matching, but my husband hates it. He was about to change when I said, “if you match that would be a great anniversary gift!”
He loves me 🙂
