There is a bike trail near our house that I really like. It’s about 10 miles one way and goes between our town and another.
The trail is surrounded by farms and natural beauty and has a couple bridges, but it’s the canopy of trees that makes me love it so much. For most of the 10 miles, there are beautiful shade-providing trees with branches hanging out over the trail.
It reminds me of Tennessee. Specifically, the part of Tennessee where my dad lives. I can picture it now. When I was little, we would drive from the airport in Nashville or Huntsville, and the trees hanging over would be the first sign to let me know we were getting close to home. When I got older, I recognized other markers, but any time I see trees hanging over a road or a trail, I think back to when I was little, I think about Tennessee, and I think of my dad. 🙂
A few days ago, Jamin and I did a thing that we like to do every now and then. We rode the 10 miles, had supper in the other town, and rode back home. It was so fun. I love being married to my best friend!
