My Love, Will You Die For Me Today?

It seems like the grandest gesture one can make – to die for another. Jesus even says that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend (John 15:13).

It’s the most romantic thing a person could possibly say, “I love you so much, I would die for you.”

Most men have this innate drive to protect what is theirs. Husbands would easily give their lives for their wives if it was a matter of protecting them. Our small group has been going through a video series for the last couple months, and that has been mentioned several times.

“A man would die for his wife.”

While it does seem like a grand gesture, I don’t just want my husband to be willing to sacrifice his body to protect me. Honestly, I might be a little upset because he would be leaving me to live without him, so I struggled with this idea. Continue reading “My Love, Will You Die For Me Today?”

A Good Week

Last week was really good. My younger sisters came to visit for a few days, so I didn’t blog at all. One went to orientation for her freshman year of college and the other hung out with me and the daycare kids during the day. We played lots of Mario Kart and went to the pool, and we just hung out the rest of the time.

One of my brothers called me on Friday. It was probably the best conversation we have ever had. We laughed, and I cried. We just talked about real life, and it was so good.

My Weekend

Jessica and Michelle are my oldest friends. We have been friends for about 15 years. We’ve lived in different cities since 2007, but have stayed in touch. Jessica and I were pregnant at the same time, and we took belly pictures together. She is due in August with her second, and Michelle’s daughter was born a year ago.

It’s not uncommon for friends to grow apart as they grow up, get married, or have kids, and it’s happened to me a lot. Even though I’ve grown apart from quite a few people, I will always consider them my friends. But by some miracle, the opposite has happened with Michelle and Jessica. We’ve all gone back and forth across the state to see each other more in the last 2 years than we ever have in the past. Having kids and Continue reading “My Weekend”

Love Hurts.

Love hurts.

It’s something I have heard way too many times in my life. Every time I have heard those words, they’ve come from the mouth of a person who has been burned by someone who ‘loved’ them.

The definition of love has been so watered down and distorted that when a lot of people think about love, they aren’t anywhere close to the real thing. Love has nothing to do with Continue reading “Love Hurts.”
